Blog 16: 2-Hour Meeting Answer #2

Content:

  1. What is most important in winning an under 19 year old soccer league championship?
  2. The coach must strategize every league game that his team faces.
  3. Examples/Details
  • Formation 4-2-3-1 can be used against almost any other formation. Equilibrium of offense and defense if everyone does their part on the field. Meant for defense to overlap offense and have more attacking players.
  • Formation 4-5-1 is very defensive and usually not a team's first choice. Usually meant for teams that need to end with a final score of 0-0.
  • Formation 4-3-3 used by FC Barcelona. It is meant for the left and right defender to overlap the midfielders, run to oppoing field and either cross or pass the ball. Also meant for midfield to have control of the ball and maintain posession so the 3 offensive players can make a play or take shots. Barca has 65-75% possession on average per game.

     5. I plan to continue my study of answer 2 by finding more research on the formations
and the professional teams that use it. I will also pay attention to the formation my coach uses and against what teams he uses them because it will give me a better understanding of which formations are most effective for the different situations.

Blog 14: Independent Component 1

Literal:
  • I, Salvador Gutierrez, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.
  • WB Article #24 ʺConfidence in Soccer.ʺ soccerperformance.org. Web. 1 Nov. 2012 http://www.soccerperformance.org/specialtopics/confidence.htm helped because I know how to play the game, but I feel my mentalality was not the best, and this helped me improve in every game.
  • Look to the right under "Independent Component Hours"
  • I completed the 30 hour requirement by playing league soccer games with my team and training twice a week.
Interpretive:

(Coach gives the team a pep talk before the game begins)

(I am on the right post, defending the goal on a corner kick)

(The game ends and we all stand in a line a shake the opponent's hands)

(same as picture above)

(I am running with the ball, looking for an open teammate. I make the pass to my teammate and run towards the goal to try and recieve the ball)

(I am warming up for the game, and using the drill from practice of "keep away")

(I put pressure on the defender by standing him up, but a foul was later called so the play ended)

(I have control of the ball, as I run down the field to try and make a pass)

(I have control of the ball and try to rid myself of the defender to try and get to the opposing goal)

(I am warming up for the game, and make short passes to my teammates)

Applied:
  • This component help me understand the foundation of my topic because I was playing a league tournament, and I had to know all the rules that come with it to play the game. I experienced the concept of the league through a player's point of view. My first game, we won, and we got 3 pts. for that even though we knew we had to improve. That led to training sessions that I would have during the week and I remember doing a lot of conditioning during one of my practices, which helps overall performance, and I was consistent, so I would perform well during all the games, which is essential to win.
